Hi, I’m Dan Caple and I wear many hats. I'm a spacial thinker and visual problem solver. I turn ideas into dynamic environments.
Oh, and I also make a killer sandwich.

Boy Scouts of America Tour

I spent most of 2010 on tour as an assistant manager and logistics coordinator for Adventure Base 100, a year long experiential marketing tour for the Boy Scouts of America Centennial Celebration—The largest mobile marketing tour of its kind.

I worked alongside five other team members to create a one-of-a-kind experience for participants each week. I developed several interactive activities for kids to take part in that touched on key aspects of scouting, such as orienteering, knot-tying, and creating model tree houses from recycled materials.

For the duration of the tour, I was in charge of the Mobile Ropes Course. It was one of the most popular events on the tour. Part of my role included regular inspections to ensure the safety of all the participants and crew. This was absolutely essential, as the course was constantly assembled and disassembled.

Oak Street Design

I worked as a Production Artist at Oak Street Design–one of Chicago’s only visual merchandising companies. Oak Street Design challenged me to use my spacial problem solving abilities to create visually unique displays, event spaces, outdoor concerts, etc. It allowed me to ideate several solutions to the challenges of each unique space and event.

SharpShooter Imaging

At SharpShooter Imaging I was able to take my love of photography and translate that into the first step of my professional career. I also developed other skills that have helped me tremendously throughout the career path I have taken. It honed my natural abilities to lead others, become organized, plan out schedules, and meet strict deadlines. I learned the importance of balancing quality and efficiency to produce a profitable venue year round. SharpShooter Imaging jet-set me across the country to help launch new venues and produce original content for each venue.

During my tenure at SharpShooter Imaging, I was given the opportunity to teach people the basics of photography and photo processing, as well as, showing the occasional shy coworkers how to break out of their shell and become active employees.

Mural Work

I begin my mural work with a simple conversation to find out what look and feel each client would like. After a few rounds of sketches the final piece takes form—always with precision and polish.

Leo's, a restaurant established in Detroit, Michigan in 1972, decided to open a location in the Windy City. As a nod to it's new humble home and historic beginnings, I set the Leo's logo against two juxtaposed skylines, Chicago and Detroit.

Photography

Picking up a camera as a child, I was drawn to the idea of framing seconds of life and preserving them to share with everyone around me. That idea has blossomed into a passion that has taken me across the country to capture those very moments. These are a few of them.

Design

I studied Visual Communication at Ferris State University and have been enthralled ever since. It doesn’t matter if I’m using a mouse and keyboard or a radial saw and hammer, the results are the same every time—good clean design.
